How the Internet of things (IoT) can save you money

I've moved around quite a bit and one thing that seems to be at the top of my list when organizing things for my new home is having Wifi. But, over the past few months I've experimented with not purchasing an Internet package from a cable company. My primary reason for doing this is to save money. Unless you own a home, having a landline in an apartment can seem pointless, therefore the cable companies have learned to keep up with the times by including internet services with cable and phone lines. Well when you break down the cost of just purchasing an Internet package sans phone line and cable, you're still looking at paying at least $50 a month just to use Wifi on your laptop and occasionally your cell phone (to save data).

Let's talk about your cell phone. We all have smart phones now, and so I'm sure you've heard someone (or maybe you are that someone) that thinks the government is conspiring to listen to your every move and follow you with ads the minute you think about them.


 So the good news is that this is false, unless you're under some sort of FBI investigation, not even the ISP (Internet Service Provider) can allow such to go down. Everything you see is done with your permission. For example...Do you have a Google account? Then you most likely use google maps, and guess what, that requires location permission, or else the app is useless. Okay so let's break this down...
